Mississippi Lottery Kicks Off FY27 with $10.3 Million Transfer to State

Tonight’s Powerball Jackpot Nearly $1 Billion

FLOWOOD, MISS. – The Mississippi Lottery Corporation has transferred $10,395,886.48 in net proceeds to the State of Mississippi for the month of July, marking a strong start to Fiscal Year 2027 and continuing the Lottery’s contributions to Mississippi’s infrastructure and education.

Under Mississippi law, the first $80 million in annual net Lottery proceeds is directed to the State Highway Fund, where the funds support the repair, renovation and maintenance of highways and bridges across Mississippi. Once the $80 million threshold is reached, additional proceeds are transferred to the Education Enhancement Fund.

The July transfer brings the Mississippi Lottery’s total contributions to the State to more than $828 million since ticket sales began in November 2019.

Big Jackpots and Big Wins

The strong start to the fiscal year comes as excitement continues to build around Mississippi Lottery jackpot games. In Powerball, the jackpot has reached an estimated $905 million for tonight’s drawing, Aug. 10, after no ticket matched all five white balls and the Powerball in Saturday night’s drawing. The estimated cash value is $391.9 million.

Meanwhile, a Mississippi Lottery player hit the jackpot in Mississippi Match 5 in the Sunday Aug. 9 drawing. A ticket purchased at One Stop Food Mart in Pelahatchie matched all five numbers to win $550,000. Following the jackpot win, the estimated jackpot for tonight’s drawing resets to $50,000.

Mississippi players continue to have a daily opportunity to pursue a life-changing prize with the Mississippi Lottery’s newest game, Millionaire For Life, offering the chance to win $1 million a year for life. In addition to the top prize, Millionaire For Life features multiple secondary prize levels, including a second-tier prize of $100,000 a year for life, giving players even more chances to win with every drawing.
